The West has no borders
The American West isn't just a place on the map: it's a state of mind, a living culture that crosses borders and generations. Born in the wide-open spaces of the American continent and shaped by the vaqueros (those Mexican horsemen, heirs to the Spanish equestrian tradition and history's true first cowboys), by the Native American peoples whose mastery of the horse left a deep mark on the culture of the West, by the African American cowboys who made up nearly a quarter of all cowhands after the Civil War, and by the pioneers who opened the West in the 19th century, this culture lives on today through western riding, country music, dance, and a way of life all its own.
