The Country Weekly — October 19, 2026
October 19, 2026 edition. Period covered: October 12–18, 2026 inclusive.
A week of new music, from Texas dancehalls to Quebec, Australian voices and a British band’s recording debut. Singles, EPs and albums are distinguished so a new song, a new project and a new version are not confused.

Artists to discover
Key: 🔴 New discovery marks a documented recording debut or a new band. Already active artists are identified accordingly; a debut album or a new deal alone does not justify the marker.
UNITED STATES
Belles
Omaha, Nebraska
Raised in a musical family, she released her debut album Midwestern on October 16. Her country-pop leaves room for dancehall songs. Disco Rodeo offers an introduction; she is already active, not making her first recordings.

Chloe Kimes
Michigan / Nashville, Tennessee
An independent artist with a debut album released in 2022, she continues her songwriter-led country and band work on Daredevil, released October 16. Cherry Lime is the suggested track here; she is not a beginner.

Matt Tedder
Fort Worth / Austin, Texas
A guitarist with blues roots who released I Can Dream You in 2023, he has moved towards Texas honky-tonk and dancehall music. His album Light Touch arrived October 16; its title track introduces that approach.

CANADA
Shantaia
Spiritwood, Saskatchewan
A Top of the Country finalist back in 2022, she is not starting her career. One Trick Pony, released October 16, blends country, soul and blues. Grace is the selected introduction to this new chapter.

The Wild Palominos
Montmagny, Quebec
Active since 2023 with several projects already released, the band returns to neotraditional country and honky-tonk on Dancehall Revival, released October 16. Its title track introduces this dance-oriented repertoire.

AUSTRALIA
Michael Honan
Warrnambool, Victoria
Raised in a country-music household, he developed his songs in south-west Victoria. His EP Reasons arrived October 16. Lonely Like This is the suggested track; earlier releases mean he should not be described as a beginner.

Briana Dinsdale
Australia
Her signing to MNRK Nashville accompanies Little Fire, a country-pop single released October 16. This international step builds on existing releases and performances; a new deal does not mean a recording debut.

Paper Daisies
Gold Coast, Queensland
Rhea Robertson and Britt Grey combine their voices in this country-folk project. Their debut EP The Sweetest Girls In Town is available October 16; its title track offers an introduction. This new duo brings together musicians with prior experience.

DENYM

🔴 New discovery The five-piece released its debut single Without Sound on October 16. Formed in 2026, it brings experienced musicians together around dual lead vocals and harmony-driven country-pop: a new band, not five novice musicians.

Coverage and limitations
This edition lists 109 releases: 68 singles or double releases, 14 EPs and 27 albums or long-form projects, including expanded, acoustic and live editions and a remastered reissue. Coverage centres on the United States, Canada and Australia, with British and New Zealand additions and a Spanish-language country-pop release. Traditional and contemporary country, honky-tonk, Red Dirt, country-pop, country-rock, country-soul, country-gospel and bluegrass are represented. Searches in cajun, zydeco, old-time, western/cowboy music, western swing and rockabilly did not yield a sufficiently corroborated release here; that does not mean none exist. No new musical movement is claimed solely from a promotional phrase.
This survey is not exhaustive. Tracks associated with albums provide listening entry points and are not automatically counted as additional new singles. Remasters and reinterpretations are not presented as previously unheard compositions. For Alabama Vs. Tennessee, Spotify gives October 12 and Apple October 13; the Spotify date is used. Acoustic Collection here means the eight-track version available during the period, not the ten-track version announced for October 30. Wild Hearts is the three-track project also described by the label as The Wild Hearts Series. Styles are guideposts, not grounds for treating all folk, soul or Americana as country.
