The Country Weekly — September 28, 2026
Edition dated 28 September 2026. Period covered: 21–27 September 2026 inclusive.
An international survey prioritising the United States, Canada and Australia, supplemented by European and specialist roots research. Discoveries may have earlier recordings; only releases dated within the window appear in the new-release list. No quota was applied, but this research is not exhaustive: partial access, stale indexing and insufficient dates leave some leads unconfirmed.
Three tracks to play first
An editorial selection from this bulletin, not an official chart.
1. Rosine feat. Alison Brown & Mark O’Connor — It Never Ends : for the interplay of folk, Americana and bluegrass from an experienced new duo. Listen on Spotify
2. Dakota Caden — Common Decency : to discover a documented debut country-pop single. Search on Spotify
3. Darin & Brooke Aldridge — Come Alive : to extend the listening journey into the bluegrass and country-gospel scene. Search on Spotify
Artists to discover
Key: 🔴 New discovery indicates a documented first recording or an explicitly identified new recording project. The text explains when its members are already experienced. Without this marker, the entry highlights an emerging artist or a career worth discovering, not necessarily a beginner.
UNITED STATES
Dakota Caden
California
🔴 New discovery Documented debut single: Common Decency, released on 25 September 2026. This Californian singer addresses relationships through voice-and-guitar-led country-pop; the marker reflects this recording debut, not a new record deal.

Rosine
Nashville, Tennessee
🔴 New discovery A new duo formed by Forrest and Meredith O’Connor, both experienced musicians: a new project, not beginners. Their debut single It Never Ends, featuring Alison Brown and Mark O’Connor, was released on 25 September 2026, bringing together folk, Americana and bluegrass.

Kinsley
Nashville, Tennessee
An emerging artist raised across California, Texas and Tennessee. Her debut EP Learn To Live, released on 25 September 2026 after several singles, blends country, soul and rock; Caitlyn Smith features on Cold July. A first EP does not mean a first released song, so no recording-debut marker is assigned.

Slater Nalley
Atlanta, Georgia
Already known from American Idol and the EP Hey Georgia, this young performer continues his recording career with What Do You See?, released on 25 September 2026. The song pairs introspective writing with contemporary country drawing on classic influences. An emerging artist, not a first recording.

Myles Morgan
Birmingham, Alabama / Nashville
Originally from Birmingham and based in Nashville, he was already releasing singles in 2025. Missin’ Me Drunk, released on 25 September 2026, favours a stripped-back acoustic-country approach. An artist to follow for this direction, not presented as a beginner.

Jack Vero and Lily of the Valley
Hudson Valley / Catskills, then Nashville
A band formed roughly three years before its debut album Midnight Rail, released on 16 August 2026. Progressive bluegrass, folk-country and a jam-band approach make it a discovery in this survey, but not a new release this week. September coverage does not change the album’s release date.

Bottomland
Southeast Texas
Justin Gates and Cannon Brand each pursued solo careers before forming this duo. Their new single Colder was released on 25 September 2026. Texas country from two singer-songwriters; their recent signing is not enough to classify them as beginners.

CANADA
Dom Pelletier
Quebec
A new solo chapter for a musician active for around twenty years with The Hunters, Caravane and Bønanza. Oiseau migrateur, released on 25 September 2026, blends French-language country, bluegrass and folk-rock. “Québécana” describes his sound in the project’s publicity; it does not establish a newly recognised genre.

AUSTRALIA
The Wet Whistles
Brisbane, Queensland

Lewis Love
Australia
A country-folk artist who had already released an album, Lovesick, before this week. Man On The Moon is dated 24 September 2026 in the discography consulted. His EMPIRE Nashville signing is a professional milestone, not a career debut.

This week’s playlist
Coverage and limitations
This edition features 40 singles, 5 EPs and 19 albums, a total of 64 releases. It highlights the American, Canadian and Australian scenes, from traditional country to Americana, bluegrass, soul and rock crossovers. This selection is not exhaustive; European scenes and western, western swing, Cajun, zydeco and old-time styles have little or no representation here.
Linked titles lead to sources. Listening links lead to Spotify: “Listen on Spotify” opens the listed release; “Search on Spotify” searches by artist and title.
A few details: Randy Travis’s Set The Blues Back is a previously unreleased archival recording. The War And Treaty’s The Story of Michael and Tanya (Expanded Version) expands an existing album with, among other additions, two new live recordings. Artists in the discoveries section may already have a discography; the red marker identifies explicitly documented first recordings or new projects.
